Friendly And Welcoming
We stayed for just one night and were really impressed with the friendliness of all the staff. The cooked breakfast was delicious and being made freshly to order was a real bonus.

The room was large, warm and the bed extremely comfortable. Our only criticism would be that the bathroom in our room smelt very musty and unpleasant.

Overall if we came to Portsmouth again we\'d be happy to stay again.

Nothing Roundabout At The Roundabout Hotel.
This is our second visit to this hotel and the staff are welcoming, polite and helpful. It is clean and tidy, with good rooms, a nice bar, and restaurant area. The food looks and tastes as it should. Perfect For An Overnight Stay
We needed a hotel that was close to the ferry port as we had an early ferry to catch plus we have two small dogs and The Roundabout Hotel could cater for this. Had a lovely evening meal in the bar area where dogs are permitted. Also, as we had an early get away ( to early for breakfast) they made us up some sausage sandwiches the night before to take with us.

Good Value
Good value for money for a brief stopover - 10 mins drive from ferry at night and late check-in made it ideal for us. Noisy if window open. Good breakfast and friendly service.

Noisy But Good
Staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Room was great - clean and tidy.

Had to have the window open all night because of hot weather and found the traffic noise was very loud because of its location on a roundabout which was used to access a major road along the Portsmouth/Southampton coastline. good value for money.

Handy Location
Polite helpful and friendly staff. More choice would have been nicer for breakfast, more choice of fruit and some yogurts on the menu would have been better, probably a continental breakfast with cheeses and cold meats would have been good. English fried breakfast was very good. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable with nice bedding but the carpet was a little grubby. Car parking was a little tight but ok.

A Pleasant Stay
Visited end Feb for a Saturday night as a family of three and 6m old puppy and needed somewhere that welcomed dogs.

Pleasant stay. Staff welcoming and helpful and dog welcomed in bar where we had lunch on Saturday and was able to join us for breakfast on Sunday - made a fuss of by most staff that saw him!

Very good, reasonably priced, pub grub with our dinner bought up to our room for us without any quibbles as restaurant was booked for a function. Good breakfast too!

Free WiFi throughout a nice touch, freeview tv in room with an iPod docking station built in meant could watch Sky Go too!

Room comfortable and functional with room for us all (and two bikes) but, being honest, could do with some investment to brighten it and the hallways up a bit. Could look lovely if did but felt a bit \"tired\".

What it isn\'t is a Premier Inn or Travelodge but they are all the same without any character!

Great for somewhere to stop over if in area, particularly if you have a dog.

Delightful Place. Atmospheric Olde Worlde black beams and low ceilings, the kind of place you\'d expect to find Dick Turpin warming his hands in front of the roaring log fire in the bar. During our 2 night stay, my teen son, mother myself and our dog were all made to feel very welcome. The staff couldn\'t do enough and the manager especially was friendly but in a genuinely friendly way, and not just because it was part his job. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean, relaxing and comfortable, although it did get a bit hot in there and we had to use the fan a bit. The food was delicious. and the menu extensive with a really good price range. We had out evening meals there and a really big breakfast. Couldn\'t fault the food at all. We\'d have loved to have stayed a third night but needed to get home. If ever i\'m visiting The area in the future, this is the place i\'ll be booking

Breakfast in the pub (lovely decoration and space!) and very well served even for vegetarians like us. Good location for visiting Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard. Ok, But.....
We needed a triple room for 3 adults and were given the family room for 5 on the top floor, (or so it seemed!), which was very spacious and well equipped, - until we tried to take a shower in the morning and found that the plumbing in the bathroom would not deliver the water to the shower fixture.

Pity, really, since we\'d had a long-ish drive on (would you believe?) a HOT day, and were faced with the same on the day of our departure, and didn\'t have time to call down and see if it could be fixed.

Other than that, a convenient location for us with a good breakfast to fuel our (hot) day.

This was my first trip away with my new puppy so I was nervous that somewhere "dog friendly" might not be. I needn't have worried, we were made very welcome, the staff were friendly and helpful.

The rooms are basic and a bit "old fashioned" but for an overnight stop, nothing really wrong with that. I managed to find free wifi, the beer was very nice, didn't try the food but the menu looked great. Handy for Portsmouth etc and easy to find.

As others have said, the roundabout location can make it a bit noisy.

Hotel With Character
Despite an initial hick up which the staff dealt with as quickly as they were able our stay was pleasant. The room clean and food very good. Even though it is situated near a roundabout - as the name indicates - it was not as noisy as we expected. As it is a very old building part of it's character comes from a lot of creaky staircases and our room, at the top of the building would not suit anyone who could not cope with them. Overall the staff we had contact with were very friendly and attentive which made for a pleasant short stay at the Roundabout Hotel.

lovely room , comfy welcoming, felt that the staff were over worked and had too much to do, staff that were working were first class, not very impressed with breakfast as short staffed again, very hurried and your chef had a very poor attitude, overall good and would stay again because the staff you did have were really good,There was a memeber of staff behind the bar on her first shift that was left un aided for the first half hour or so of her shift, i would like to praise her highly for her great attitude and customer service skills. Thankyou

Staying In Fareham, Hants
Great character hotel located close to the A27 in Fareham. Very friendly and helpful staff are on hand.

Our on suite room was clean and tidy, with a lovely comfortable bed, the shower room was spacious and all in working order.

We returned late to the hotel and had a few night caps in the comfortable and friendly bar.

Our fully cooked breakfast was included in our very reasonable room rate and was freshly prepared and served by more friendly staff.

Recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel in Fareham.

Our Stay
We had stayed at this venue before but not in a family room so this was a new experience for us. The room was large enough for the 3 of us and beds comfortable. It was a shame that the bath/shower soap holder was empty but nice towels. Breakfast was great and plentiful. We would definitely stay again.

Very Pleasant Stay
A very pleasant stay at this typical english hotel for two nights on our short journey along the south coast.

The hotel / restaurant personnel was very nice and accomodating.

The food served at the hotel restaurant was delicious as well as the breakfast.

Free parking a great advantage.

The location of the hotel is very convenient for Southampton, Portsmouth or as a stopover. We managed to drive to Stonehenge from here too.

Alhough located at the roundabout, it was not an issue-no noise, actually good to be close to the main roads.

Very very nice, would stay again.

Convenient, Comfortable, Cheerful
The Roundabout Hotel is in a super-convenient location and is a fairly straightforward pub-with-rooms that does good food and straightforward accommodation. A bit dated, perhaps, but the location is everything here - I particularly enjoy the easy access to the Fareham Creek Trail for a relaxing evening run after work. Food is good value, tasty and plentiful and the house wines are lovely. Friendly but not overbearing staff - no complaints here. I'll definitely stay again when I'm in Portsmouth on business.

We apologise for letting you down for breakfast. We often make sandwiches etc for guests to take away or maybe a pre order?? would have been okay. We serve cooked breakfast items from 7am. You just dont get this earthly feel from the large hotel chains, and to be honest when your far from home this is what you really want.

Well done the Roundabout Hotel and Bar for keeping it real.

A very comfortable watering-hole at which to stay.

The staff were keen to be helpful, and the restaurant produced food which was excellent and appetising, with some dishes a little less usual. Quantities were good whilst not being overpowering.

The manager of the bar needs to remember that dry sherry must be kept chilled, and some means found to ensure that it remains fresh. Like any wine, it will oxidise if it remains in contact with air. The renowned Vac-U-Vin device is a practical, simple and inexpensive way of ensuring that the fino remains fresh after the bottle has been opened.

But, all in all, a most enjoyable overnight stay at a reasonable price, and I will return in due course.

Included in the price was breakfast. Self serve cereal and fruit juice followed by a round of toast and a cooked breakfast of good quality sausage and bacon, two eggs (served as you like) tomato and fried bread.

Yes, it is situated on a busy roundabout but being on the top floor and having windows closed we were not disturbed at night. It's site is convenient for the ferry ports.

There were 17 of us turned up for dinner really late and nothing was too much trouble. If we ever have to travel that way again, I wouldnt hesitate in staying again or recomend to others.

Very Good
The rooms were very good, the meals excellent and plentiful. We had our laundry done in house, which for us, saved us having to sit in a laundromat to do our washing and spend more time looking around the marine harbour with the Mary Rose and victory, a bit tricky to find the driveway entrance especially if you are from Australia and driving through the uk

Satisfactory
We travelled down from London for a family celebration and stayed for one night. The room was satisfactory although the bathroom was a bit on the small side with limited room to move around. However the bed was clean and comfortable and there was a good choice for breakfast and plenty of it. I would consider staying again.

Generally Good
Pros : Reception was welcoming and efficient and the staff generally very pleasant and helpful. The room was more than adequate for the price and everything worked. The bed was comfortable and though the hotel is situated on a noisy roundabout, my night was quiet and undisturbed. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent, plus a wide variety of options was available. The restaurant in the evening was fantastic, the food well cooked and plentiful and very reasonably priced. There was a great menu choice, and also a bar snack menu. I will stay here again when I have the opportunity.

Cons : The accommodation is a little 'tired' and the walls seem a bit thin. Traffic noise from the road outside may be intrusive in hot weather when you need to have the window open.

Overall I would say the prices reflect the level of accommodation and when you include the excellent restaurant and a great breakfast, this is a good place to stay as long as you don't expect the Ritz!

Regarding My Stay
Staff were friendly and helpful.

The food was excellent.

Service could be improved; I had to ask 3 times for a waiter to come to my table for dinner.

My room (no. 9) had a rather distracting humming noise; would recommend trying to address this.

Excellent!
The hotel has a very cosy traditional feel to it with alot of old features of the building. Rooms were very comfortable and clean, only thing was we could hear the tv of the adjacent room which when your trying to sleep is very annoying.

Bar snack food was lovely and well priced. We didn't want to pay the prices for the a la carte menu, a lil steep tbh.

Has lovely open fire near the bar, friendly staff and the drinks are cheap too!!

Wonderful Roundabout Hotel
My husband and I spent a night at the hotel prior to the Great South Run 2012. We were going to dine out in Fareham, but the weather was dismal so we settled in next to the log fire in the bar and ordered dinner. Our socks were blown off at the quality & size of the meal. Delicious, flavoursome, well presented, generous and thoughtfully presented. Our stay was very comfortable, we slept well and enjoyed the freshest, yummiest breakfast before heading off. Thank you for such an amazing stay! We will definitely be back for a romantic break again soon.

The only negative was on our first night we walked through the enterance to find a man with just his boxers on and one slipper (absolutely drunk) it wasn't the best welcoming from guests we found it very funny but I'm not too sure others would!

Other than that it was a good weekend away! Thanks!

Comfortable, Well Equipped Room
We booked this hotel as it was listed as 'pet-friendly' and was located close to my daughter-in-law and was convenient for the M27. The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped and, being at the back of the hotel, offered a quiet night's sleep, despite single-glazed windows. The cosy hotel bar seems popular with locals. We left too early for breakfast unfortunately, but the restaurant and bar menu looked promising. On the negative side, the room decor was looking a little tired in places, and the double duvet was only just big enough for two people.

Very good service from the young lady who acted as receptionist, barwoman and waitress. Unfortunately, everything else is extremely poor in terms of quality and experience. Room 14 mattress must have past its sell by date 20yrs ago. Throughout the night there was constant humming of machines located at the back of the hotel....this made for a poor night with long periods of being wide awake. The bathroom is very very small. My fault for not spending enough time researching.

Overall Pleasant And Inviting
I read some previous reviews knit picking at little things that aren't 100%, mainly to do with the decor, and yes there are a few things here and there that prevent this hotel from being considered spectacular but they in no way affected the quality of my stay there. I did, however, have a problem with figuring out how to use the shower and change the temperature, which created some hilarity and a very foggy bathroom.

The staff are always friendly and polite, the rooms maintained at a good temperature and whatever people say about the decor, I personally loved the corridors, very Alice in Wonderland! The bed was comfy, the TV worked and it is by far the best value for money hotel in the area, what more do you need? I had a very pleasant stay here and will be returning again in the future. One small suggestion though, some 'do not disturb' signs would make it a lot easier for the cleaners with people like me who enjoy a lie in :)

Fine For Overnight Stay
We stayed for 1 night while attending a wedding in Fareham. Previous reviews had concerned me, but our room was fine for what we needed. The bathroom did smell "smokey" but the bed was comfortable. When we arrived there was just one man dealing with reception and the bar, he was very polite, asked if we would wait, showed us to our room, offered to carry our bags and rang a taxi for us.

The breakfast was ok but not as good as I have had in other b&b's/hotels.

Great Stay At The Roundabout
Stayed ay the Roundabout Hotel at the end of October 2011. We were a group of 4 adults, staying in two en-suite rooms and we chose the Roundabout for its value and relatively close proximity to Portsmouth.

The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. We found the atmosphere in the small bar very good and we booked a table in the restaurant. The menu was excellent and if you can't find something you like on the menu it would be a surprise!

When the food was served, it was of a very high quality and there was a very good selection of vegetables. The cost was very reasonable, as were the drinks.

The rooms were small yet very clean, the double bed was quite narrow (used to a king sized bed at home so no surprise there!) but it was perfectly adequate for the one night stay we booked for. Parking is a bit tight, but we were able to park out the front of the hotel which was fine.

All in all, we had a great time at the Roundabout and would happily return when we visit Southampton of Portsmouth again.
