Charming B & B, Great Location
This was a great place for us to stay. Janet was friendly and went out of her way to be helpful. We had plenty of space in our room and bathroom and the water pressure in the shower was great. Everything was clean and breakfast was delicious. The location is easily walkable from the train station (less than a mile, downhill) and also to Lake Windermere (1 mile downhill).

Close To Perfection
Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful long weekend in Lake District staying at Greystone Cottage. Everything was excellent starting with a very kind and friendly host Janet, nicely decorated room, bathroom with spacious shower cabin and delicious breakfasts. Janet was very flexible and helpful allowing us to have an earlier breakfast and to leave our bags in the house after our checkout on the last day. She was also providing us with weather updates every morning. We really felt welcome at Greystone Cottage. Highly recommended!

A Warm And Wonderful Stay
We really enjoyed our stay at Greystone Cottage. Janet was incredibly warm and welcoming and gave us fantastic advice on place to visit in the area. The B&B itself is gorgeous, comfortable and really well located - less than a five minute walk from the centre of Windermere and perhaps a 10 or 15 minute walk from Bowness, so it\'s ideal for those who don\'t have a car. To top it all off, the breakfast was great too! If you\'re looking for a great-value, cute and homely base from which to explore the lakes, I highly recommend Greystone.

Delightful
My daughter and I had a lovely stay at Greystone Cottage. We were made extremely welcome by Janet who owns the Bed and Breakfast. Janet looked after us so well. It was as though we had known her for years. We stayed in the spacious blue room. Very pretty room and very comfortable with a lovely ensuite. Breakfast was delicious. Either a cooked breakfast or you could have a choice of cereals. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast. We will most certainly be back again. Thank you Janet.

Stott Park Bobbin Mill - Newby Bridge - Museum

Stott Park Bobbin Mill - Newby Bridge - Museum

Distance 6.68 miles (10.69 km)
A working mill built in 1835, Stott Park created the wooden bobbins vital to the spinning and weaving industries of Lancashire. Typical of mills across Cumbria, today you can see industry from a bygone age and watch as bobbins are made using the mill's original machinery. Although Stott Park worked continuously until 1971, it remains almost identical to its Victorian appearance of 100 years ago. With its Victorian machinery originally powered by a waterwheel and steam engine, Stott Park used birch, ash and sycamore to make wooden tool handles as well as bobbins. The mass of belts which fill the building still drive the cutting, boring and finishing machines than turn long thin poles into bobbins. You can watch a bobbin being made, and take it home as a souvenir.
