In its present state, the Stein Inn dates from 1790, although parts are known to pre-date this, making it the oldest inn on the Isle of Skye. If only stone and mortar could speak, what spell-binding tales could be told of old clan battles and daring escapades!
The air is rich with romance in this totally unspoilt and traditional inn. However, a happy medium has been struck between the old days and modern times ensuring that discerning travellers are more than comfortable in the stylish and up to date en-suite bedrooms. A full traditional Scottish breakfast is included in the tariff or something slightly less if that is all you wish.
For those independent souls, the Stein Inn offers a unique self-contained apartment with one bedroom. It has all modern conveniences and being within the Inn means that you can take advantage of what the Inn offers if you wish.
If you are a walker both the Inn and the apartment have drying facilities.
The Inn is now a Wifi hotspot.
Bar lunches are available from noon until at least 3pm depending on season; bar meals are available from 6 til 9 again depending on season, with tables in the dining room able to be booked. During the winter it is best to phone to check on times. Being accredited a gold business by the Green Tourism Business Scheme we try to source as much of our fresh produce locally and consequently our meals are made from the best that Skye and the Highlands have to offer, with fresh fish, shellfish, venison and lamb often to be found on the menu.
Our bar is well stocked with over 125 malt whiskies and being accredited by Cask Marque you can be assured our cask ales are served to you in the best condition. Our ales are all Scottish and frequently from our local breweries on Skye.
