The Knockderry Hotel is located in Cove, on the Rosneath Peninsula (see map), on the shores of Loch Long, on the west coast of Scotland. The conservation area of Cove and Kilcreggan abounds with fine buildings of the Victorian era, at which time the area was a popular holiday and second home choice for wealthy Glasgow merchant families. To the architectural interest is added a stunning visual setting with views of lochs and mountains which is nevertheless practically situated, within easy reach of Glasgow and Glasgow Airport, and a convenient 15 miles from the regional township of Helensburgh. The area can be reached by car (1 hour from Glasgow), train and bus via Helensburgh, train and ferry (via Gourock). For the tourist and traveller, the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is less than half an hour's drive away, and Highland centres such as Fort William are within an hour.
